Ready to go cRAZy?? We got a new format to breakaway for this summer….

It’s cRaZy 8s Round-Robins!!!

Learn to play with different partners in this social yet friendly format. Get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to adjust your playing style. Take your game to another level. And most of all have fun! Afterall it’s not pickleball if you’re not having fun, right?

Location

Diamond Head Tennis Center, 3908 Paki Avenue, Honolulu, HI 96815

Match Time

Events scheduled from 2:00-4:00pm and 4:00-6:00pm. There’s a 2-4 hour commitment depending upon how many events you join.

Format

2-hours of playing time per event. 8 players/2 courts per event. Round-robin of 7 rounds with 1 game per round. Players play to 11 only.

Age/Skill Level Events

18+/3.5-3.99 & 4.0-4.99

Women’s, Men’s, Mixed Teams, or Mixer of Women & Men. Every Sunday is a new schedule of events. This is an open-age division. Players may play up in skill not down in skill. Please no sandbagging.

Equipment

League nets provided. Balls are not provided and are the players responsibility. Balls should be in new to fair playable condition. No warped or cracked balls, please. Suggested ball: Franklin X-40

Registration

Step 1. Register below to participate in Crazy 8s. Cost is $10.00 per player. Please use this as a guide to identify your skill level, USA Pickleball’s Definition of Player Skill Rating

Step 2. OPA will email you an invite to access the events listing. Skill/age events will vary from week to week.

Step 3. At 7pm on the Monday before Sunday’s match date, check the events listing to see what events are scheduled. Players can join on a first come first serve basis with a maximum of 8 players per event. Players may add their name to the waitlist if an event is full. Players may signup for more than 1 event.

*There are no winners or losers in this league season. We will manage the events and keep track of game scores. So if you want to know how well you did individually for bragging rights, let us know.

PICKLEBALL CLASS, TOURNAMENT & ACTIVITY RELEASE, PERMISSION, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

It is hoped that every participant enjoys an injury-free activity and by your signing this Release of Claims form, you assume all risks associated with the activity.

The undersigned agrees that prior to participating, he/she each will inspect the facilities and equipment to be used, and if he/she believes anything is unsafe, will immediately advise the officials of Oahu Pickleball Association (“OPA”). If he/she observes any unusual significant hazard during the Pickleball class, tournament and activity he/she will remove themselves from participating and bring such to the attention to the nearest official immediately.

Release. In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way in OPA’s pickleball class, tournament, event I, for myself, my heirs or assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin, hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue OPA, their officers, officials, other participants, agents, and, if applicable, owners and lessors of the premises used to conduct the Pickleball class, tournament, and activity from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injuries, accidents or illnesses (including death) and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in the Pickleball class, tournament and activity.

Assumption of Risk. Participation in the Pickleball Class carries with it certain inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken to avoid injuries. The specific risks vary but include: 1) minor injuries such as bruises, sprains and dehydration, 2) major injuries such as eye injuries, joint or back injuries, heatstroke, heart attacks, and concussions, and 3) catastrophic injuries such as paralysis and death. I have read the previous paragraphs and I know, understand, and appreciate these and other risks that are inherent in playing Pickleball. I assert that my participation is voluntary and that I knowingly assume all such risks.

Certifies that he/she does not have a health problem or condition which would make participation in such events or activities detrimental to his/her health.

Indemnification and Hold Harmless. I also agree to indemnify and hold harmless OPA from any and all claims, actions, suits, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities, including attorney’s fees brought as a result of my involvement in the Pickleball class, tournament and/or activity.

Use Permission. I also give OPA and its agents and designees permission to use or distribute, without limitation or obligation, my image, name, voice, and words for any purpose connected with the Pickleball class, tournament and activity including promotional, marketing, training, informational, and archival uses.
